Automated Mixing System for Snack as Manufacturing

Customer’s Requirement

A major Indian snacks manufacturer was using the traditional Nauta mixer for mixing the meal for extruder snacks, they were facing problems with uneven homogeneity, low productivity, product damage, and lack of automation as with the current mixer they have to do more of manual feeding. They were planning to have an expansion with full automation lines.

Solution

Lindor Mixer: Lindor’s mixer was provided as a solution due to its low shear capability. These mixers are ideal because, in addition to mixing the dry raw materials, they also allow for optimal water distribution over the moving product bed without causing any dust. Trials were conducted on the Demo L500 mixer at the client’s facility in Rajkot, liquid spraying was carried out by a single-phase nozzle pressurized through the pump, the mixing was homogenous and dust-free. The Lindor "Gentle Touch" mixer was, therefore, optimum for the product.

Batch times: The 400 – 500 kg batch is conveyed rapidly, in a few minutes, by an F3 Floveyor. This is a unique aero-mechanical conveyor system that, just like our mixer, is particularly gentle with the product.

Product quality & Hygiene: The machine surfaces are hygienically treated both internally and externally using the Viwateq® waterjet finish, this minimizes the risk of microbial retention. The mixer is easy to clean and now stringent hygiene requirements are also been taken care of for consumption and usage.

Outcome

  1. Quick Installation: The product was provided within the stipulated time required by the customer.

  2. Product quality: No particle degradation was found after installing the L10 mixer.

  3. Quick blends: The quick turnaround time for mixing was achieved

  4. Small footprint: Due to its compact nature, the L10 occupies less space in the laboratory.

  5. Low Maintenance: Lindor mixers are easy to maintain and operate and can be cleaned with minimal fuss due to the added feature of Quick Seal Release.

  6. Less Residue: Minimal materials would remain in the self-emptying unit which allowed easy starts for the next batch.
