Homogeneous Tea Blending & Flavoring

PRODUCT Information

CTC Tea and dust with flavours like Masala, Ginger, etc.

CTC stands for Crush-tear-curl is a method of processing black tea in which the leaves are passed through a series of cylindrical rollers with hundreds of sharp teeth that crush, tear, and curl the tea into small, hard pellets.

NATURE – Hygroscopic, fragile.

The client was in search of a mixer for making a homogeneous tea blend from 3-4 different grades, they also wanted to add a different flavour to their mix. They had earlier seen Lindor Mixer in one of the Foodtec exhibitions held in Mumbai and wished to give it a try.

CHALLENGE

  • Improve the homogeneity of the 3-4 blend mix.

  • Add liquid flavour to a tea blend.

  • Increase productivity by minimizing the batch time

  • Maintaining quality and hygiene.

  • Reducing the dust generation during Mixing.

  • Less power consumption.

  • Easy Cleaning and low maintenance.

  • Variable speed option.

TRIAL & SOLUTION

FPT knew that the Lindor mixer would be able to fulfil the requirement and therefore asked Tata Global for a trial on the L500 demo mixer. On November 23rd, 2016 senior officials from the client’s company visited the FPT Atgaon factory for trial.

After conducting two batches of the mix in the demo mixer, the officials were completely satisfied with the homogenous mix. However, they have taken some samples from the trials to have an in-house quality check.

Lindor Mixer was able to fulfil the customer’s requirement because of  the four main reasons:

  1. Mixers produce a constant, homogeneous blend within a short cycle time.

  2. The precious tea does not get damaged during the blending process, ensuring superior product quality.

  3. Flavour dosing keeps the aroma consistent throughout the batch.

  4. Very less residue about 99% complete discharge.

RESULT

The client bought four mixers two L1000 in March 2017 and two L2000 in September 2017
